In Your Heavenly Hands

In Your Heavenly Hands

By: Zahra Hussein Ali

I stand for you to see through me the bruises, the struggle, the immense pain I dwell in times I was fragile and young

Sticks of woods I was brutally hit on my head; for I couldn’t even count; abused intensely by a mad man

I was struck again, again, and again until no more I cry, by a mad man I was stung

Unconsciously Shivered every phase as my intruder passed by; for this, sadly I was glued to the “crazy one” But my Lord Knew, I was left hopeless; to my Lord every day I ran

To others I was treated like a slave for being a blood born Somalian

They have forgot, there was One Mighty in Power in His hands I laid

Told I didn’t belong there I must go back where I came from or my deprived skinny body would make a story of comedian

For Allah was watching over me like a canopy with boundless mercy that nobody paid

Truly He answers when you call unto him; now, tomorrow or someday

If you were to dig deep inside this heart of mine you’ll Surely Find Allah; verily the past, present and future of my affairs in His Heavenly hands I lay with humbleness

Never did I doubt that Almighty’s help was near; for you my Lord you are with those who bare patience, by my side You stood and greet me in victory to this coming Day

I praise Allah for He has made possible for me to swim like a beast through all my struggle and rebuild me in ways I imagine not; Today all the pain swallowed for the past, my heart writes to You – my Lord nothing but gratefulness’

Verily with every difficulty there is relief! For the darkest moment I faced, today in return Ya Allah you have put beneath me light, above me light, to my left and right light, an undimming light upon light!

At times wishing I could read and write; but for many I was abandoned; for lack of knowledge I was never considered bright

By Your Will you bless whomever you wish! It was by your word I walked on that stage being the only Muslim women with high distinction award this year!

You leave me in awe of your GREAT LOVE towards me; my Lord in tears of joy I can’t resist; for you were never far and always near

For I prayed for every beat of my heart in your heavenly Hands I shall always lay!

For I prayed for every beat of my heart in your heavenly Hands I shall always lay!

For I prayed for every beat of my heart in your heavenly Hands I shall always lay!

  1. Alhumdulilah she just told my story a African American Muslim woman and yes America still appears foreign to me.

  2. Why thank you Khalilah and Maryam. As I read my beloved Zahra’s story chills overwhelmed me. I felt like I’ve lived it withe her through her words. Zahra is powerful and inspiring. Be sure to friend her on Facebook. Thank you dearly for your support!
